According to an article published in the British Medical Journal in October 2018, a plant-based diet is the way forward for better diabetes control. This conclusion follows the analysis of eleven studies, most of which were RCTs (randomised control trials- the most unbiased kind). The studies showed that a plant-based diet may offer the following benefits in people with diabetes:
- better blood glucose control
- better cholesterol levels
- more weight loss
- a better state of mind
- higher quality of general health
